Integrated Project Delivery Defined – Howard Ashcraft
by Rex Miller
This is one of the best and clearest description of what Integrated Project Delivery.
I’ve also included a link to our chapter on IPD – Chapter 11: Integrating Project Delivery. This chapter is one of 9 keys for lowering costs, cutting waste, and driving change in a broken AEC industry.
You can check out Amazon or our website to order a copy of the book: The Commercial Real Estate Revolution: Nine Transforming Keys to Lowering Costs, Cutting Waste, and Driving Change in a Broken Industry – also available in Kindle.

Another set of letters for something I’ve been doing for 15 years (under my own branding obviously). At least there is a good AIA contract to help implement it with the Owner. It still comes down to the right people, with a long term relationship, working together and trusting each other. I don’t care what contract you use, the intended behavior will only come through a strategic long term relationship. The Owner is still the weakest link.
Hi Scott, I’m curious how you were integrating your teams before the new contracts were available. How were you able to ensure the GC and subs were motivated to make sure the design team succeeded, for instance? Did you work under Design-Build contracts that split cost savings between the GC, Architect, and Owner?
